Posted in General Fun, Personal Drama | No Comments »[This is a repost from other blog at Folk Demon - rehashed here because that's how much this annoys me] After reviewing leaked copies of Verizon’s new tiered data plan, and already being grandfathered into AT&T’s unlimited data from my 2 years of service since getting my 3GS, I decided to do a little research to test their claims that 90% of most data users do not use much data at all, and the tiered plans are meant to hit power users only. Tags: AT&T, Data Plans, Net Neutrality, Smart Phones, Telecommunications, VerizonAs more and more people my parents’ age join Facebook, the likelihood that Facebook will fully complete its transformation into the next Myspace by completing its transition from Internet hotspot to (a bigger) wasteland of the socially inept is reaching nearly 100%. Facebook’s stricter design control prevents the browser-crashing capabilities of the sparkly trash on Myspace by not letting people pollute the Internet with glittery .gif files that read “SEXY BITCH”. However, for all the complaining of the older generation of the vanity of social media, if there is one demographic that pollutes my newsfeed with banal, trivial, annoying, and useless information, it is that same generation. My super power seems to be the ability to attract really weird people, and then see through their thick skulls to their inner workings. It’s been documented quite well in the legendary “Cubemate Saga” (do a search of this site and it’ll come up). When I lived in Delaware, it was this woman who looked like Clucky from Disney’s Robin Hood. Well maybe not the fat part. Anyway, her favorite hobby was waiting until I called my mom around dinner time on a Friday and then scream for me to “shut the fuck up”. Good times. Read more »
Tags: Photoshops, Sloppy, StupidWhat follows is a re-post from my other blog, Folk Demon. It will be an ongoing saga that I will update in both locations, with some slight (possibly profane) variances between the two.
A few weeks ago, my car was photographed by a photo-speed enforcement Cylon on the outskirts of DC. I think it was a Cylon; it is ambiguous as to just what mechanism was used to capture this. The citation doesn’t say. It could have been a cop. Or a camera-only. If it was a cop, it’s the laziest of lazy cops since clearly my car was never pulled over. It may have been a stationary trap. It may not have been. Not a lot of info until I request it from the Metro Police. Of course, they gave me a nice diagram to explain how radar works (how kind).
However, now that I’ve graduated from law school and I’m unemployed and waiting for my bar results, I’m going to say they’ve picked a fight with the wrong unemployed maybe-lawyer. My instinct here is to raise a due process claim first on two grounds: Read more »
Tags: Asinine, bad idea, Government, Lawyerings, Legal Drama, Washington DCBar is over! And I can almost tolerate reading things on a computer screen again. Now that I’ve got nothing else to do and am generally unemployed/unemployable I’ve had time to go to the gym. Now, like most people I can only run at the gym when I have a good mix going on in the background. Most of my time on the hamster wheel is spent rocking out and playing air guitar, a habit that regularly freaks out the housewives reading their Better Homes and Gardens recipes while watching A&E and walking at a snail’s pace (you need to burn off that half diet coke, half coke and full box of non-fat oreos somehow). What follows is my list of power songs – the ones that makes me uncontrollably rock out while running or otherwise give me a power boost when I need it most. There’s no need for a particular order, so it’s alphabetical. My goal was to make a playlist a little over an hour long. Read more »

After my initial outrage, I am not sure how I feel anymore. You can’t say the festival went full-commercial sell out, because the line up is 98% really solid. In fact, I want to say the lineup is the most festival-friendly in a long while. But what it lacks in frat rock/indie-marketing-machine staples it makes up for in pure, unadulterated offensive-to-the-tastes-of-anyone-who-likes-actual music choices of Lil Wayne and Eminem. Or Weezy, if you wanna be a dick about it.
Tags: Black Keys, Bonnaroo, Concerts, Festivals, Jack White, My Morning JacketI have been a loyal Sirius subscriber since 2005 (technically, Christmas 2004). It was everything I wanted from radio, and I felt the price was reasonable for that level of access. We had a good relationship, Sirius did a lot for me, and I did a lot for it (or so I’d like to think). Numerous friends were exposed to the greatness that is Little Steven’s Underground garage (the perfect summertime soundtrack to just about anything), and I convinced a few people to sign up for it based on my incessant harping about how great it was and how much terrestrial radio sucks. In fact, someone stole the (non-Sirius) antenna off my car and I never noticed it was gone, mainly because I haven’t had reason to listen to terrad in over a decade (unless it was WERW in Syracuse). “If the defendant made the decision to kill in a cool and dispassionate manner” (regarding first degree murder)
So of course here I am, sitting when I should be studying, trying to think of cool ways to decide to kill someone. Rock Paper Scissors? Loser of Hungry Hungry Hippos? “Not it”?

Tags: Bar Exam, Immature, Murder, WordplayIt’s a new year, so I did the logical thing and just outright quit Facebook. Actually, I did that last week, and today marks the first full week sans-Facebook since 2006ish. I’m not excited for 2011, mainly because I’m not a fan of the number 11. It’s only real use in my world is in multiplication tables. I also have an aversion to odd numbers. Read more »
